Peanut Butter Alert

Just so you know, and this is not a hoax, any Peter Pan or Great Value (Walmart brand: GV) that has a lid with the serial number beginning 2111 should be pitched, due to salmonella outbreaks. We've had outbreaks in Indiana which they've traced to this product, and I'm pretty sure it's relevant in other states as well.

I went to my cabinet and found a brand new jar, never openend, with that serial number on it. Sure glad I didn't make peanut butter cookies during the blizzad!

We have some with the same serial number -- and we had eaten from it. Yikes!! We didn't suffer any ill effects, but we're not eating any more out of it.

It was all over the news here in Canada too, so it must be a pretty darn big lot! Thanks for the warning. This kind of thing is so scarey 'cause a person really trusts that because the product is sealed it will be safe.

Our jar had the "2111" on it. It was half empty.

We also had a brand new jar with those number. . .AND an hugemongous jar that I scraped the last out of today. . .then noticed it had the same numbers--we've had it about 3 weeks, and my son has a peanut butter and jelly sandwich every single day for lunch at school.

No cramping here. . .wonder if it was just part of the batch. . .

Yeah, we had one too. About 1/3 gone. Oh well, what are you going to do? Besides throw it away, of course!
