What Not to Wear Tip of the Day

If one purchases two pairs boots identical in every way except color (one pair brown, one pair black), one should not wear one of each pair to work.

Like Lionel Richie and the Commodores, like Laverne and Shirley, they should not be split up.

However, because one got ready for work in haste today, that is just what one did.

My sister did that a number of years ago with a pair of heels. She was teaching Middle school at the time so it was a very long day for her as many of her students felt the need to comment on her black & blue shoes!

My 8 year old actually does that on purpose from time to time...I just call it being confident in who she is.. :)

LOL! I have two pairs of dress shoes just alike except one pair is black and the other navy blue, and I have been afraid of doing that.

If I find shoes I love, that are comfortable, I always buy them in multiple colors. I did the same thing only I did it going TO a job interview. At least you already had the job. I had to explain in the interview why I had on shoes of two different colors. Glad to know I am not the only person who had ever done this.

I know you don't know me, but I had to comment on this one ... I once wore two different shoes to work, same color but TOTALLY different shoes - one sling back and one closed back. Sad but true. So, my What Not To Wear advice (and I am sure that Stacy & Clinton would totally back me on this one) is always, and I do mean ALWAYS look at your shoes as you put them on ... even if it means taking 3 steps backward and turning ON the light in your closet!!!!!
I guess it is good that you don't know me, otherwise I would never have just admitted that!!!!
LOVE your blog by the way - found it via Teri at FaceDown.

That's funny - and exactly why I keep my brown shoes on the bottom 2 shelves and the black shoes are on the top 2 shelves - with hubby's shoes in the middle! :)

My oldest does this with her converse runners all the time except it's not subtle colors like black and brown. It is various combinations of red plaid, green, black, etc. So there you are, you are right in style working with youth and all.

That is one thing that I haven't done before. A girl did that our senior year of high school though.

That is so funny! I know I've done it with socks. I agree -- I think you need to just be proud of how trendy and hip you are.

Wish I could've been there when you discovered the error. What would Clinton say??? :)
You'll have to read my post called Imperfect Jesus Girl about this exact subject. :)
Have a good one!

I did that!! Back in my teaching days, I was pregnant with Ethan. It was just before lunch time and I was sitting on a table reading out loud to the class. I was swaying my foot back and forth, and one of the kids asked why I had two different shoes on! It was hilarious, one brown, one black, both slip-ons but not resembling each other in the least. My husband was such a dear and brought me a matching shoe :)
