SAHM CRAFT! It's Not Even Easter, But I Painted Eggs

I have always loved eggs. In fact, one of my earliest memories involves sitting on an egg in the back seat of our car on the way home from church one morning.

(It was actually inside my little white plastic purse with the gold twisty opener which I tossed into the car and then plopped my frilly dress bottom down on. See purse of knock-kneed child at left.)

I'm sure you'd like to know why I took an egg to church when it wasn't Easter.

Well, it doesn't have to be Easter to appreciate an egg, does it?

No, I didn't think so.

Anyway, a few days ago, I bought some plain white ceramic eggs at Hobby Lobby.

(Someone, please, prevent me from frequenting the Lobby of Happiness every single day of my SAHM month! They're having a sale right now of 80-90% off. NINETY PERCENT. I bought a $50 platter for $5! And then I passed out from exultation [the act or condition of rejoicing greatly] and they had to carry me and the platter to my car!)

Anyway part 2, I had previously bought a fake nest at HL, so I later bought the eggs and the robin's egg blue paint to sponge paint them with. Then I bought some Spanish moss. Heaven!

Another point for SAHMness: there is no place for Spanish moss in the office. That's sad.

One last added touch: feathers. Ohmygosh I love feathers.

So now I have another addition to La Chambre De Fifi:

So, is there some object in nature or a particular shape or design that you have a weakness for? (No, I'm not talking about Pitts, Clooneys or McConaugheys. I'm talking about eggs, feathers, puffy clouds or paisleys, etc.)

Bunnies. I love them.

And now I am liking pigs. I have a weakness for anything that resembles Wilbur.

ha ha...i don't think i've ever been first to comment on your blog..although there is really probably someone ahead of me in "limbo landing" ...
absolutely agree with you 110% on the HL fun. I love to run in there quickly to check their clearance areas, did I say quickly?! It's never quickly, even though I like to try an convince myself it will be...one day. My latest purchase from there has been calligraphy pens to write in my legacy "THIS IS MY STORY" scrapbook that I'm building for my girl. And naturally, on the way out that day, I couldn't pass up the watercolor and sketching books that were 90% off!

I want to come stay in that room so I can feel like i've made it to Paris, knowing that it will be a long time before i've saved enough to make to the real one. :(

And, i do have a weakness for crosses to hang in my cross corner above my "oversized chair" in my den...olive wood, black iron, black iron with gold accents, french white ceramic, oak, old copper (greek, spanish, irish, and others). I have to sneak one or two in a year so hubby doesn't raise too much cane with me.

Now, i wonder where i can put my pitts, clooneys and mcconaugheys?

Honey, I don't mind sharing with you that I'm a sucker for anything with polka dots on it! My eye goes directly to that in the store, and all else fades away... ha!

Birds. I just love birds. Ceramic birds, clay birds, birds on stationary, whatever. The fatter and chubbier the better. I have no idea where I got that penchant and don't even have that many of them around. I don't even own a bird. But whenever I see them in a decorating store or department I want them all. And wrought iron. I'm on a wrought iron kick as of late. But I guess that's not an object in nature, so moving right along. :vD

I love that nest. Too cute for the "ooh la la" room.

And I'm coveting that beautiful dish by the way. What a find!

I love your nest. . .and I think you should put that photo of the knock-kneed little girl and her purse in your pretty frame that's on the same table--a rather fitting photo for your table scape.

I love paisley--and I love polka dots--and I love just lots and lots of things. The world is a pretty place.

Thank you for visiting my blog, Linda. I would have fainted too if I had found a 5$ plate. Good job, deal-finder! I've enjoyed browsing your blog!!

My brother is the manager of a nearby Hobby Lobby, so can you guess how my entire house is decorated? I just love that store. He lets me know when things I'm looking go on sale and if I make the trek to his store I can get another discount. His best friend is the manager of a HL even closer to me. I'm trying to get my son to start golfing with him, so maybe I can get discounts at his store as well. Score!

I am craft challenged. Very much. So there is no craft I cannot resist. What I cannot resist buying is coffee mugs, and t-shirt, with cute saying.

It's an addiction really. I don't wear t-shirts! But I see a cute one and my wallet comes flying out of my purse, yelling CHARGE! (pun intended).

Glad you are having such fun. I'm getting worried about with your 30 days is up. I see blogs of great sadness in our future.

Your room is lovely. I think you don't give yourself enough credit!

Hobby Lobby is one of my favorite placed on earth! And when they have those sales...whew.

One time I bought (literally) a shopping cart FULL of baskets that were 90% off! I bought over $300 worth for $30! I used them for gift giving for like 8 years before I ran out. Oh, it was wonderful.

Oh, I love roosters in my kitchen. And red with butter yellow. Is that a product of nature?

Well, if you're excluding the Pitts and Clooneys, I "heart" roses and ladybugs (not to be confused with beetles). I'm also a sucker for a beautiful sunset...I'll be running for my camera.

I love Hobby Lobby. Many things in my house are from that fabulous store.

Your robin blue bedroom is absolutely wonderful!!! I'm not sure what I like more, the Eiffel Tower, or the shoe motif. The shoes I think. Now a wondrous handmade nest. What's next? No kidding. We shall have to dub you Martha Junior, the Vice Duchess of Home Decor! (Did I mention, I'm on my way to HL???? 90% off???!)

I am not sure if this qualifies or not, but I have an affinity for lightning. I know it is not a permanent thing, but I am drawn to thunderstorms, and all that goes with it.

Well now you've just made me want to take a trip to Hobby Lobby. Getting 90% off is never a bad shopping trip.

Do I have a weakness??!! Paper, pretty paper, ribbons, anything with birds and rubberstamps(I have been known to buy a stamp only to get it home and discover...I already had it)flowers and that beautiful blue you painted your bird's nest-that decoration hits at least two of my weaknesses..
OK, now I need to go to the craft store.

Cobalt blue. I love cobalt blue ANYTHING, particularly small glass objects that have no identifiable purpose. As evidenced by my china cabinet. Ahem.

Well, aren't we crafty? And by "we," I mean you.

I, too, have a weakness when it comes to the Lobby. I try to avoid it because it's a good three hour trip for me.

Nicely done!

I'm drawn to pears. But I don't really have any. I just covet ones I see at Hobby Lobby.

I have far too many weaknesses to count, one of them being Hobby Lobby. I have to be extremely disciplined not to pull into the parking lot at least once a week. I do love the nest you made though, it looks great in the newly decorated bedroom. I also like the little coat you are wearing in the Easter picture. I made one similar to it for my oldest daughter one year. I guess fabric is a HUGE weakness of mine. I don't really sew anymore but I love to purchase fabric!!

Enjoy your weekend, I can't wait to see what you come up with next...

I wish I was crafty like that. I normally glue my fingers together and use crazy glue whether the craft calls for it or not. LOL!

I like the nest though..it came out really nice!

Hearts.

Can't live without 'em. (The real ones or the cute ones!

Hobby Lobby is great, especially since their Muzak is Christian music, and they always put a full-page Christian, evangelical ad in the paper on Easter Sunday and Chrsitmas Day.

I LOVE nests, birds and rabbits. Oh my! LURVE THEM!
But craft stores (in general) are my cryptonite. They offer too many of my favorite things: gift wrap, baubles, charms, paint, fabric, ribbon, ric rac, fabric-cover buttons, embroidery floss... Oh, I can't go on... I'm getting short of breath!
