The One Where I'm in a MUSICAL (A Video)

Well, here are the slides and the video. We had so much fun making the video. This was for the annual Volunteer Appreciation Event which the staff holds for our workers each year. We have door prizes and generally lots of fun. The Vols like to see us make fools of ourselves, and we always do that successfully and with finesse.

Obviously, this was a 50s theme. We converted the gym to a giant drive-in theater and ran old black and white PSAs on the large screen with reminders about how to remove the speaker from your car, etc.

We actually had several videos that night, which is why there is a mix of Grease and Happy Days.

In the slides, the head shots that you see were plastered on a wall in a row to look like a giant yearbook page. Everyone had a pic.

In the video, I did not jump in front of the camera first thing, as I appeared to. That was editing.

The woman I'm dancing with cheek to cheek is my co-worker who heads up our middle school ministry.

Our Sandy is a children's pastor. Our Danny is our prayer pastor who does a lot of other stuff, too.

Our senior pastor is the tall, balding man with the sunglasses on.

And the senior pic of the guy with the "cigarette" on his ear and looking bored while doing Hand Jive is the one who helped me prank my boss about his dog at the vet.

I realize this is a lot more meaningful to me because I know these people, but I wanted to share it with you. Imagine your staff doing this, and you'll see what a kick it was. Plus, I got to do The Twist. Woot!

Sorry the quality is not the best. The file didn't translate well on line, but it was very clear in person. *Please do not miss my hand jive spotlight. It is the highlight of my entire life.*

Oh my word! I want to volunteer just to see a production like that - how fun!!!!

In reference to why you sometimes refer to yourself as 'Lid' - I suddenly remembered myself when my fingers were flying across the keyboard repeatedly typing 'studnet' instead of 'student'. Don't think it ever got past the proofers, thankfully!

Highly adorable! This made me giggle, especially since my sister performed in Grease at her church several years ago.

How awesome! I dare anyone to say that we can't have fun as believers! Looks like you had a great time and I'm sure everyone who enjoyed the fun evening did as well.

First thing I noticed is that you go to a much larger church than I do...and it looks like a great place because I can tell you all had so much fun with that video. Not sure if I enjoyed your hand jive or your twist better, so I'm glad we go to see both! Cute skirt!! :)

How much fun was that!!!

We do fun videos for church a lot, but I'm always directing, so I'm never in them. Personally, I think I get the better end of the deal, 'cause I make those folks do some crazy stuff.

You are too cute!

Lid, you get paid to do this??? What an amazing job! YAY! On a serious note, it thrills me to see all of the work gone in to celebrate your volunteers. My husband and I have been volunteering in our church, be it youth ministry/kids ministry/family ministry/pastoral ministry etc...for almost 20 years, it truly is a thankless job and sometimes it can be exhausting. I am blessed for your people, you must have an amazing staff to want to honor and recognize the volunteer staffs hard work and dedication!

Lid - I want to work at your place! I loved your skirt, made you easy to spot in all the scenes. You do a mean twist, sister. So fun!

(My sis & I are thinking about doing a grease tune for our next SEE WHAT I'M SAYING.) You are having one, right???

Waaay fun! That was such a great video! I know the Vols loved it.

And I know we're gonna convert you to be a musical lover yet. I could see it trying to get out!

Heehee! It was just as fun the second time. You guys did such a great job.

Getting to do The Twist was the highlight of the evening for me. First because I love to Twist and second it was redemption for falling while twisting at Justin's wedding reception...

That was great!! Chaislyn was standing here dancing along with you! Watch out this may be the next You Tube sensation!!

I'm coming home home this summer, we should have lunch or something.

I think High School Musical 4 may have some competition.

You guys are a hoot! I'll never watch Grease with the same eyes again. I need a job that let's me hand jive and wear poodle skirts. Oh yeah, I do, but somehow it doesn't translate the same with 3 and 4 year olds. :v)

Oh my gosh! Thank you! I laughed until I cried and then I laughed some more! This so made my day!

I know I can't say the "M" word. And you know what, she's really good in it, too! Adorable in her poodle skirt ... hand jivin' and all!

Hmmmmm....that cute lady in the pink poodle skirt didn't look like she hated musicals with a deep-hearted passion...

What a blast! Thanks for the smile today, that really brightened it for me! That was a lot of fun for me, so I KNOW it was for YOU!! :-D

PJ said...

What a riot!!! And here you were saying you don't DO musicals!!! You're a star in that Poodle Skirt!!! And the TWIST, no less.

Okay that was just so cool! What a lot of work that was! But SO nicely done! Loved the whole video, (esp the hand jive, lol! ) And the slideshow things were even very neat!

btw, so I don't have to go back into the comments on another post...I think it's way cool that you have your dog in the family photo!
