Halloween at the Doc's Office

Just returned from Walmart. Yes, on Halloween. Stoopid, stoopid, stoopid decision. The aisles were packed. People wore costumes. Walmart is scary enough without costumes.

Speaking of costumes, yesterday I had to take Jorge to the doctor because he was about to expire, or so it seemed.

Wouldn't ya know, the entire office staff wore costumes. There was an Amazon pirate woman who must've been 6'3", witches, Raggedy Ann, Bart Simpson ... on and on.

It was a regular old party in there, except for the people wearing masks in the waiting room or having blood drawn or other unmentionable procedures.

So the nurse who took us back into a room was a vampiress, complete with long black wig, terrible makeup and a general overall look that made the Goth look seem sorta cute.

They kept Jorge somewhere for a few minutes and took me back to the room, and while Vampira was asking me questions, in jumps a small man in a rubber mask like "Chuckie" the spooky doll, holding a chainsaw prop. He kind of growled at me, but I just looked up from the People Mag and said, "Nice."

He shrugged his shoulders and walked away.

That was the doctor.

After the exam, the doc said Jorge needed to have blood drawn, and so a girl in a skin-tight black cat suit did that.

Now he can die happy, I suppose.

Once we get him cured of this kidney infection.

Was also at Walmart yesterday. And Little Red Riding hood was working at my bank also.

Hope Jorge feels better soon....those are NO fun.

Hugs, M

Poor Jorge! Going to the doctor's is scary enough without costumes. What is it about Halloween that brings out the cheesy in most people? Will pray for quick healing of the infected kidney!

If this were anyone else's blog I'd accuse him/her of making this up. LOL...only you...this stuff only happens to you. Too funny

Poor Jorge... hope he's feeling better soon.

How creepy that the entire doctor's office were in such... um... interesting costumes. I have I said how much I hate Halloween yet? lol

Oooh... and I could SO relate on the Wal-mart gig. We ventured into our local Wally World to pick up Halloween candy to hand out tonight. DOH! What on earth were we thinking!? Fortunately there was some left... or maybe it was unforunate ;-)

Have a great evening!

So Blogger seems to be playing its own tricks today. Got an error 3 times when I tried to comment. (But of course I'm persistent because I now you live for my comments!)

I've never understood why health care folks are so enamored with dressing up for Halloween. The job can be scary enough as it is. And some of the patients have a hard time staying in reality with everyone dressed normally! LOL

Yours is actually the first time I've known of a doctor who dressed up (well, except for maybe a pediatrician with a silly hat). Usually they realize they need to stay more serious and professional.

Hope Jorge is soon better. I know you were just jealous of the 24-hour jug. :-)

Kinda freaky to get health care from that crowd, isn't it?

We ended up at Walmart after lunch today. And yes, it's CRAZY. There was an Edward Scissorhands! I don't know if he was a customer or an employee. I only saw him from the back. And the reason I'm sure he was 'Edward' were the big scissors he had on his hands! K-razy! Now... going to WM dressed like that is bad enough. But to be an employee (if he is one) and dressed like that... scissors and all would be beyond me! How would someone like that get anything done??? Ya know.."excuse me while I take these dealies off my fingers so I can, ya know, get some work done". Heaven forbid anybody ask this guy directions. He could poke somebody's eye out. A strange day, indeed.

I hope Jorge gets to feelin' better soon! : )

Halloween sounds like a mayor big deal over in your country. I can´t remember it being so when I was little. I guess it´s evolved into this big holiday.
Not quite sure what I would feel having my medical personnel dressed up....
Happy Halloween and hope Jorge´s kidney infection gets better!

Sounds like the doc's office was scarier than Wal-mart.

I hope Jorge is feeling better! Poor guy.

I'm not convinced that dressing up at the doctors office is in good taste. It's all in good fun...I do get that. They are dealing with sick people though, and some of them young children. I can't imagine how I would feel having a witch tending to me at ages 2-6...or a doctor with a chainsaw prop? Eek!!!

Ooo, I'm with Carmen. Halloween at the doctor's office is not in good taste, and doesn't sound like part of the Hippocratic oath. Praying for Jorge this morning. Love, Annette

Hmmm. Which is scarier - the people at the doctor's office in Halloween costumes or Walmart any given day of the week? Kind of a toss up!

Hope Jorge is feeling better soon.

And these are the people we trust to make good decisions with our lives when we are not well. Go figure. LOL.

Hope Jorge is better soon. Kidney infection is no fun.
