The Random #8, Winner of the Apron & Zoe Goes to the Groomer

Today is the day you link up! Have fun! I'll answer the questions myself tomorrow.

1. Candy corn: Your thoughts?
2. Briefly, what was the first conversation you ever had with your spouse? (or best friend, if you're not married.) (Or someone significant, like your librarian.)
3. Could you ever become a vegetarian?
4. Have you ever dressed up your pet in a costume?
5. Name something about childhood that you miss (like Clark Bars, Teaberry Gum, Malibu Barbie, cracking fake eggs on people's heads with your fist and "It's the Great Pumpkin" airing only once a year).
6. Have you ever won a trophy? If not, what do you deserve a trophy for?
7. When do you think is the appropriate time to begin playing Christmas music each year?
8. What's your favorite board game?
9. How do you feel about surprises (receiving, not giving)?
10. Is it easy for you to say, "I'm sorry?"
11. What is your favorite candle scent?
12. October is traditionally "open house" time in public schools. If you had a literal open house in your home (like a reception) what light snacks would you serve visitors and what would you show them (as in art projects, graded papers) that would uniquely represent you?

What delicioso recipes you all offered for the kick-off! You would make Paula Deen proud. And you would make me quite chubby, if I put all of these recipes on the immediate "must try" list.

So the winner of the apron, should she choose to accept it, is Amy at All Things A Ro: Life of a happy go lucky music teacher with lots of hopes and dreams. Congrats, Amy!

After work, I took Zoe to the groomer for "the works." When she came home, she had a bow in her hair, which I can never manage, so I tried to get a pic of her, but she was so wiggly-excited that this was the best we could do.

When I dropped her off, I made sure they could have her done by 6:00, since I had a school concert to attend. They said, "No prob."

So I went home, and much later, I got a phone call from PetSmart asking, "Where is Zoe? Aren't you going to keep your appointment?"

How many of you know what thought crossed my mind?

SHE'S MISSING.

"What? She's not there?

"No."

"But I dropped her off a while ago; you didn't give her to someone else, did you???" (When I dropped her off, another customer was making a big deal over her, and I thought for a second maybe that Yorkie stalker came back pretending to be me and stole her!)

Did I mention I have a big imagination?

"OH, wait a minute. Here she is. I was on lunch break when you brought her in, and no one told me. I'll get on her right away."

Whew. (PetSmart or PetDumb?)

And as I was taking her out, there were all kinds of dogs and cats being paraded into the store in Halloween costumes for some kind of soiree, I guess. We just got out of there!

And here is the baby at her Fall choral concert. Jorge is in Vegas for a few days, so he had to miss her performance. I just included these pics because he will check my blog and see her and wilt on the inside because he's not home. Not that I'm trying to make him want to hurry home or anything. No. I would never do that.

Let me just say that Vegas may never be the same after Jorge, the "Great Rebuker" has been there!

That would be a scary moment thinking the pet place had lost or misplaced Zoe!! That incident doesn't make them look terribly competent, but maybe it was just that one person's spaciness.

It's hard when hubbies have to miss events. I hope it was taped for him. Your daughter is lovely!

I answered my questions very briefly this time. Still tried for humor, though.

Zoe is too adorable. Your daughter is gorgeous. Those are great photos.

"Jorge, the Great Rebuker"? lol But how could his heart not melt when he sees these photos? :-)

I'm getting ready to host my 2nd ladies English conversation group this morning. Hopefully I've overplanned again and have too many activities. My greatest fear is running out of things to do!

I vote for PetDumb personally.

You either have an awesome zoom lens, or you stood on the stage taking those pics. Either way...they are aweswome! At our school, the kids wear choir robes and I don't like it. My son rarely dresses up, and then they hide that by a big red drape.

My answers are up!

Glad you did not have to do a Zoe 911!

"The great rebuker!" LOL!!!

I would have gone a little crazy to think my pup was missing. Glad Zoe is a-okay!

I'm getting ANOTHER dog. (This will be #3). I have my 2 little Boston Terriers, and my husband has fallen for a golden retriever. She will be 8 weeks on Halloween, and we'll be picking her up.

That Zoe is just too cute - glad they didn't misplace her!

I think I need to hear the story behind Jorge the Rebuker!

My dear Twin Lid, Last night was MY girl's fall choir concert. They wore their blue choir polos and khakis.

Great pics!

Well, we can tell how SHINY clean Zoe is even if it is a little difficult to see the bow! I need to get all of mine in for "the works" too - especially the toe nail clipping!

Congratulations to Amy on winning the apron! I glanced at a few of those recipes yesterday and decided I should stay far FAR away from that meme!!! I do have a recipe similar to your potato soup -- and it is fabulous indeed!

Your daughter is so cute! I'm SURE she was the star of the show!

"The great rebuker" made me laugh out loud. That's exactly what would go on if my hubby went there. Hey, maybe we should meet there and the the two of them could go rebuke to their hearts content and we could go shopping! :v)

Love the questions in your meme today!
I must say PETDUMB! I would have been freaking out too!
I have learned, from youtube no less, how to "groom" my mini schnauzer, Piper. Budget wise it's the best thing ever, umm otherwise I'd like to admit that no, no it really isn't fun, easy or quick! But hey I'm getting that all important quality time with my fur baby right???
Piper is NOT a costume wearing dog, OR sweater or dress...she will bite if we try, HOWEVER, I do have a cat that if caught at the right time, when she's sleeping, will sit still long enough to put one of those crazy cat hat costumes on. I have never laughed so hard in my life!!!! Someday I'll have to drug her so I can get it on AND take a picture! If you don't have a cat, find a stray give it a can of tuna and DO IT! it's funny! (Try to stay clear of the claws though.) :)

My stomache sunk when you said they didn't have her...wow!! It isn't brain surgery or rocket science...geez
