We Don't Need More Cowbell; We Need More Poppyseed!

Thoughts on the poppy seed:

1. My daughters are making fun of me because I had 4 bottles of Brianna's poppy seed dressing in the fridge, all in various stages of emptiness. They are claiming I have an opiate addiction. Not true. Sometimes I just forget to check before I buy another bottle, that's all. I am, however, addicted to the apple salad on which I pour the dressing, which necessitates a LOT of poppy seed in my fridge. Unfortunate side effect not usually associated with drug use: seeds in teeth. Floss is my new best friend.

Salad:

Whatever greens you prefer, add chopped green onion, chopped Gala apple, feta cheese, pecans or walnuts and THE SEED.

2. I joined the "Brianna's Poppy Seed" Group on Facebook. That means I'm not the only one who REALLY likes it. Kinda scary.

3. The seed, in fact, CAN cause you to fail a drug test, otherwise known as a "wiz quiz." I just hope that my employer, a youth ministry, does not start drug testing soon because I'll be in big trouble.

Maybe it's time for an intervention ... after this next bowl of salad.

What are YOU into these days?

PS: Poppyseed or poppy seed--who can say? It's all over the place spelled every which way--another sign of language debasement in our moderne world. Tsk.

You crack me up.

I can only take poppyseed in small amounts. (At first I typed it "pappy"!)

You lost me on the cowbell part of the title, though.

Oh, the dressing sounds divine!

My latest must-have item is Bailey's Coffee Creamer (the original flavor).

So here's the deal.

I do not drink coffee. I tell people I never grew up. In reality, I had an elementary school teacher breath dragon coffee breath into my face every morning one year, so I still cannot even tolerate the smell.

Fast forward to last weekend.

I'm a couponer...hard-core...so when I saw the Bailey's on sale for B1G1, and I had a coupon for a totally free one (thank you Facebook offer way back when), I got two for free.

Well, I had no idea what to do with the stuff, so I googled and discovered that I could add it to my beloved Amaretto for a little toddy (and no, I do not drink much...just the occasional).

That first taste was HEAVEN!

I had to have more, and I found coupons that allowed me to not only get eight more bottles for free, but I actually made $1.10 on each set!

So, although I have ramped up the exercise and am really watching what I eat (hello salads), Bailey's is my new love and little indulgence.

P.S. Sorry to write a book, but that's how I roll.

Poppyseed dressing is one of my favorites, especially on greens with fruit, like berries, apples, etc. I've never tried this brand but have purchased Marzettis and now started making my own homemade lemon poppyseed dressing. Yum! Yup, I'm addicted too. :)

Loved this post...I am always looking for a new addiction that involves feta cheese...right now I am into pepper...cayenne pepper...I posted a recipe today from a pecan/pretzel mix with brown sugar and cayenne pepper...sounds bizarre, but it was a hit at our Bachelorette Party...we like to think our toxic breath was what finally made Kasey leave....

I had to go for a drug test for a job once and they told me not to eat any poppy seed muffins. Having led the sheltered life I did, I was like Why? LOL.. I too love poppy seed dressing but have never heard of this one. :)

Uh-Oh We in trouble now. Poppy seed us!

Guess I should eat a grown up salad dressing and try this. I just like the Ranch.

Yum that salad sounds so good, then add that great dressing! This post reminds me of that great episode of "Seinfeld" where the poppy seed muffins kept getting her in trouble!

Love your blog Girl!

Trader Joes Edamame Hummus. And I'm out of it right now! The closest Trader Joes is 1/2 hour away. It's time for a trip!

Also...I have various jars of partially filled salsas in my fridge. I'm always worried they go bad, so I open a new one...but I don't throw out the old because, well, maybe it's good?

Being Hungarian, we love the poppy seed. But I prefer mine surrounded by a sweet dough in the shape of a crescent or in a roll or best of all sprinkled in a lemon cookie. :v)

What am I into these days? Greek salads. Yum!

Lid, I LOVE poppy seed dressing (which I first typed as "poopy seed"...don't love that)! I've only had it once though; I can't find it at the store. I could tell that I'd be addicted after the first time I had it; so it's probably good that I can't find anywhere to buy it!

These days, I'm into fruit. Mostly canteloupe and watermelon.

One of my pet peeves is people starting new containers before the old us used up. The other pet peeve in after something is used up.. why do they leave it in the frig... why does mom have to throw everything away.... I like poppy seeds in muffins.
