The Voice

Anyone out there watching "The Voice?"

If so, your thoughts, please?

I've been viewing faithfully, but not voting. I was never a big voter for American Idol, either.

I enjoy The Voice, but it lacks something AI has, that is, the spontaneity and feeling that most contestants are not already professionals. You hope that some humble person will finally get his/her break.

The Voice, on the other hand, is showcasing really high caliber talent. Most contestants are already singing for a living, or at least as a lucrative side job. When you're watching, you never have to hide behind a toss pillow because you're afraid the contestant is going to fail horribly and you will not be able to go on with your own life because of sympathizing so much.

And AI lacks one thing that The Voice has: Adam Levine.

Did I mention Jorge bought us tickets to see Maroon 5 at the state fair on August 18th?

My musical taste is very eclectic. I still enjoy Gary Chapman, and I adore Maroon 5.

I'm diggin The Voice.

What I'm loving about The Voice, Linda is that it isn't a teeny-booper popularity contest like AI. It's truly based on talent and whoa... some of these "kids" have GOT IT! I love that the top 8 are the best of the best.

I live in Canada so I can't vote, but if I could, I'd be voting for "Team Blake" all the way - love his 2 finalists!

Enjoy the Maroon 5 concert!

I just finished watching my DVR of this weeks show. I was a bit shocked with Blake Sheltons choice. I would agree with you ....they are all amazing and it will definitely be interesting to see who takes it all!

I loved what celo did with his team...they all did awesome and such unique ways to show their talent. I LOVE Adam as well ! Can you even imagine being able to just go hang out at his house! WOW! What a gift he gave His team!!

I don't need to watch TV. I can just watch your blog and know everything I need to know about culture and life.

I love the voice AND Adam!!!

I was hooked in the beginning when they had to choose the contestants solely by their voice...they couldn't look at them! loved that.

I'm watching the show. Adam's got the winner in Javier. I don't know what Blake is thinking.

I've reviewed the show a couple of times on my blog.

Oooh, I love Maroon 5 too. I saw them when they were backing John Mayer in Vancouver a few years back. I prefer AI to The Voice as well!

I am watching the Voice. Not sure how I feel about it. It doesn't compare with AI or with America's Got Talent. It's not as pop-ish maybe, more eclectic or mature perhaps. I think the blind auditions help pick talent, not appearance and the focus seems to be less on the judges comments and more on their knowledge and advice, which I like, although some of them (read Christina) do like their attention but even she gives her contestants good input.

I've only voted one week, seldom vote for AI, never for AGT. When I do vote, it is online only. I would have to say at this point my choice is Beverly. She would never get on either of the other shows in my opinion, most of these contestants wouldn't.

Glad to see you back to blogging! I've tried a time or two to get back into it but haven't managed to do so yet.

Nice blog read here. I definitely agree with you about the contestants, most of them have had record deals in the past or do sing as some part of a job already, but I do still really enjoy the show. I've been watching from the beginning for free on my TV provider/employer DISH Network's online site (dishonline.com) since I'm never home to catch the live premieres. It's been a great show and I'm really digging Xenia's voice! It's very unique and mellow. I can't wait to see who takes home the win! If anybody missed a moment check out all the episodes and clips here http://www.dishonline.com/shows/345243-the_voice/videos/887665-quarter_finals_round_2 &uhm=socme. :)

AI is on the way out (fingers crossed!) Used to be a fan, but love hearing real "sah-gers" on the voice. Plus, Blake (daughter's fave) and Adam (mine) aren't too bad either. So cute!

My husband followed The Voice faithfully, but I just couldn't get into it.

I agree with your point. And I also think The Voice just never made me really care about the singers.

I also think their set is just too "busy"--it's so flashy and there's just too much going on.

But then you know I'm an avid AI fan!

I don't usually fall into these tv show things. But The Voice, I love. I could do without Christina and her girls hanging out but I love it other wise.
