I am a day late this week, but I've been in an election-induced coma for the last 24 hours, so forgive me.I'd like to share the following photo from about 1970 or so. I'm guessing I was about 8. What you are viewing here is my version of a Thanksgiving Day parade. Barbie & Co. are on my mom's canister sweeper which served as a float which could be pulled down that hall, and the balloon is supposed to be one of the giant Under Dog-type balloons, and I am emceeing the parade. Please notice that all the Barbies have their arms up in a parade wave. Also please notice that my bangs start at my crown. Thank you, Mother.

You know what? Looking at your Happy Trails pic and your Thanksgiving parade pic....you haven't changed much! You still have that mischievious twinkle in your eye! :)
How cute it that...you made a Barbie parade float! Just think of all the fun we could have had playing Barbies together in 1970!

We had a lot of fun with Barbie and her many friends on Sunday afternoons. I loved getting them all out from under your bed and setting up scenes. Thanks for a good memeory today.

I loved my Barbies, too. I still have them, though they're a little worse for the wear from my (now 24yo) daughter having played with them, too.
That is so cute. I knew right away that the vacuum was serving as a float. Great picture.

Cute!! I love it when my kids play creatively too, when they put those Wii remotes down and just PLAY. They have so much more fun and get along with each other so much better when they play creatively.

Awwww! Sweet. And don't blame your mother on the bangs. My daughters bangs start at her crown too. I did not "put" them there, that is the natural line of her bangs. You should see her cow lick in the back! Yikes. The hairdresser says it will grow out.

Are you sure they were in the Thanksgiving Day parade? Because your Barbies don't look cold enough to be suffering through late November in NYC. Maybe they all just had plastic smiles on their faces. :)

I had skipper, barbie, ken and midge!! i loved midge's freckles...she had great character. my mom made clothes for them and they were so pretty...she even crocheted little hats and sweaters for them.
i'll have to get them from my mom and post them sometime.

I will have to dig out a similar picture that I have. It wasn't the Macy's parade; it was a doll wedding with the bride and groom being pulled in the chamber of a battery-operated puppy dog (take a few steps; bark; take a few steps; etc.)
The best part about that was the sign posted on my bulletin board in the back of the shot: "Peanut Butter: It's Better Than Pot." Do you think I knew what this meant??? It was all about the peanut butter....
Our canister floor vac had "doors" for the dolls to open!

Ha! I love your Barbie Thanksgiving Day parade! Very creativ little thing you were so of course you still are! I love that parade, I always get up early & watch it alone cause no one else around here cares about it.
