Welcome to "I See What You're Saying!"

Hello! Welcome to "I See What You're Saying," a chance for bloggers to meet and greet each other with a video post.

The purpose of this project is simple:

1. To answer the natural questions many of us have concerning blogs we've been reading for quite a while: "What does this blogger look like? What does she sound like?" It's almost like meeting ... IRL! Only not! It's virtual IRL!

2. To have fun. (I like fun. A LOT.)

I'm considering doing a regular video project if this goes well for everyone, so we'll see.

If you are new to 2nd Cup, before you view my video, you should know that there has been ongoing oppositional dialogue between readers and me about the sense and sensibility of musicals, thus the reference to "The Sound of Music," and that there was a great tide of overwhelming opinion about which wallpaper pattern I should choose for my kitchen, thus the torturous droning "Tour of Thrills" section shot in my kitchen, where many a cardboard circle has been baked beneath a frozen pizza and many a can lid has been incorporated into the soup pot. For more fun disclaimers, see yesterday's pathetic post.

BTW: Make sure you turn your sound up for all posts, and at the end of mine, that is my daughter's real voice. And my dog's real bark.

Have fun meeting nice people. Be sure to leave a nice comment wherever you visit today; it's the NICE thing to do!

Loved it! Especially your precious dog and the Bonus song! What fun... I now wish I were participating... but I still don't even understand the Mr. Linky thing yet... much to learn - maybe I'll know how by the next time you do this. :-)

You did a great job, Linda - that was fun to watch! I really hadn't planned on doing this until yesterday late afternoon... it seems I can't turn down a party.

And now that it's published, well, I think my face must be turning pink.

Your outtakes are hilarious!

Your giveaway goes great with mine... if my video would ever load!!! :)

carrie said...

You are fabulous!! I am so glad you decided to do this, first of all.

Second of all, I commend you for your bravery to stop the vasectomy. I wouldn't have had the guts for sure.

Thirdly, that dog is THE cutest. My dogs don't do tricks. Unless you count finding the smallest hole in the fence and escaping. My neighbors aren't very amused by that particular trick.

And you are so poised! I felt like a mess.

I'm excited to see the others!

Smilingsal said...

I feel as if I really know you now. Thanks for being so authentic. Zoe is a cutie, and your daughter can sure sing!

Amy B said...

Oh I just love the puppy!! She is soooo cute! And cheese? I might have to try cheese because my lazy boxer pup won't budge for anything.

The sound of music at the end was classic! Girl, you are so fun! I'm so glad you are hosting this and I hope you do it again so I actually have time to plan and do something more fun for my own video. :)

much love, my friend!

I'm here to affirm you!!! :) That was great! Entertaining, informative, visually pleasing...it had it all! My 3-year-old son especially enjoyed your "Sound of Music" rendition--after it was over, he said, "Again, Mommy!"
Thanks for the dog tricks, the dining room/fireplace tour and especially for putting this on! Mine isn't spectacular but it's there!! :)

Thanks Linda!

You are so great on camera! I watched up till Zoe's tricks and will come back later. It is very early in the a.m. I was going to participate, but CANNOT figure it out, even with your wonderful directions. My computer keeps moaning about picture gallery discs or something. I have tried for hours, so I must go to bed now! Even though I am disappointed, I look forward to hearing everyone else! Thanks Linda.

Susan said...

How Fun! I wish I had time to do this right now...OK I wish I had made time to do this right now.

I love hearing people's "real voices" and putting it all together.

Julie, Oh, I mean Linda... your performance was stellar. This is major entertainment. Thanks for doing this.

If cucina is related to the Spanish cochina, then your fireplace picture is KITCHEN! How apropos!

Deny, deny, deny it all you want, but your passion for musicals is clearly evident in this masterful bonus clip! No doubt your daughter has practiced the "cuckoo" move from later on in the movie version (and sings like a lark!)

Even if you just put your face on a new musical picture every so often, that would be a treat for us all. May I recommend "My Fair Lady" next?

Great job!

Lisa @ The Preacher's Wife said...

I'm totally going to do this later in the day. Have to take my boy to the doc's office this morning. Was going to do a video last night but I'm SO not going to make one in front of the husband. lol

Great idea Linda! Going to watch your debut now!

My ADHD Me said...

Where to start! First of all, this was a really neat idea. My sister, Chatty Kelly, MADE me participate and now I'm so glad I did.
My favorite highlights:
1. "Too much upper armage" HA! As soon as you said that I cracked up...that is one of my "issues".

2.Your daughter's voice is incredible.

3. I wish I had lip synced a song, therefore , you must do this again.

4. Just like Sue J, when your daughter popped up all I could think of was "Cuckoo"

5. I Heart Ken Lee!!

Dena @ Green Acres said...

Watching your video was a great way to start my morning Linda! How fun! And Zoe is too cute...loved the "Bang".
As far as your bonus musical song, I'm thinking you're actually a closet musical lover. You knew all the words, so I know you've listened to that more than once or twice. LOL I also nearly spit my water on the screen when your daughter popped up behind you. I kept thinking "she said it's her daughters voice, but I don't see her. Wonder where she is? And about then she popped up. It was awesome!! :)

I too have a vasectomy story! When my husband had his done 5 years ago I got to be in the room with him! I got woozy about half way through and the nurse talked to me to get my mind off of things so I would not faint. About a week later we found out I was already pregnant when my husband had his done! He had to go back to the doctor for his post procedure check up and tell him I was pregnant. The doctor was very confused for a few seconds until he realized it had been before the vasectomy!

Loved your post! Thanks for hosting!

I am so sorry that I bombed out on you. I really wanted to do this but the time, it got away from me. Probably something to do with watching a 2 month old that spits up and cries.... a lot.... a WHOLE lot!!
I still want to do a video post sometime though. I will have to let you know!!

Sorry again! :(

WoW! That was a production! You did that all by yourself?
Incredible!

I have a very similar vasectomy story! But I was too late!

Very funny!

Bless you for your hard work.

Patrice said...

First I will have to say "Kuddos" I caught myself saying many times today, that would be neat to film and put on my blog...so this must happen more!!

Second, the vasectomy stop-age, I had to laugh, because after our third child, I pushed my husband kicking and screaming all the way, and then I actually watched to make sure it happened!!

Last, the "upper Armage" TOO FUNNY! Love it! I had to get on to hubby for showing to much of my upper armage and to much gut!! I told him only the face....camera men, geeze!

Had a ball...thanks again!

But I'm loving everone else's videos. Thanks, Linda for doing this!

Chatty Kelly said...

Gracious, wasn't this a fun day?? I have enjoyed it so much. Thanks again Linda. A couple of funny things I noticed. We are self-conscience group - everyone worried about eyebrows, and upper armage, and nostrils and not moving sides of mouth and such!

Second - the number of people including myself who led into their video "without further ado." So much for my originality! Ha!

Anyway - thanks again. Very fun. You should do it again in a while. Now that we all know what and how to do it, we'd get good. But just not TOO often. *wink*

Ken Lee ya!

This cracked me up. The bonus song was something else - but it's obvious you are not fans of The Sound of Music, since the kids pop out from behind during "So Long Farewell", not the title song! LOL

Since I don't have a video, wonder if I could just get a clip from Nightline. . . .

Oh! And i LOVED! the finished dining room...including KEN LEE cups! WoW!!

That was so much fun to see. You are hilarious in person too. Love that dark (I hate to even call it a name, since I'm so fussy about my colors, lol,)but it looked a bit burgundy? Love, love, love it! And the dog playing dead, so funny. Really? Was that your daughter singing that bit? Beautiful voice.

Thanks for sharing. I'm not one for talking on the phone, let alone on video. But maybe, just maybe if I wasn't sitting here in my pajamas, I might play along.

Great video. It was nice to meet you, really.

Your house is beautiful. I love the color on the walls and the bright white trim. I am a color girl. It sounds like a lot but I have 13 colors in my house. Of course that includes 2 1/2 baths and laundry room. There are NO white walls in my house.

You are very stylish too in your clothes. :-)

Zoe did VERY well with her tricks. Did you train her? Was it hard? I'm guessing you had to start when she was young.

ann said...

Linda, I loved the end. Did you have to do a bunch of takes on that bonus track? I mean, how did you not crack up every time your daughter popped out from behind you?
