Ode to Buckeyes

I tried to resist; I really did. I have caved, and I'm not proud. But these things have a hold on me .... they draw me .... they call to me at midnight .... Thus, the ode to buckeyes.

I've been seeing your posts on FB and didn't want to look like an idiot by asking "What the heck are buckeyes?" Obviously, we don't have them in Florida. They look fabulous. I'll have to shoot you if you post the recipe. ; )

I am sooooo with you! Peanut butter plus chocolate-yum! If I were dying, they would give me the will to live! ;}

Oooh, yum. One of the worst things about no longer living in Ohio is that I no longer get 6 plates of those beauts delivered to my door by friends at Christmas!

I've heard of buckeyes but have never made them. I make pralines, fudge, divinity, and peanut brittle every Christmas. I saw a recipe for chocolate and coconut that someone blogged about but failed to bookmark it. As soon as my 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways is over I have my work cut out for me, making my candy.

I love these too...I mentioned buttercreams on my blog the other day. We make them every year-they are butter and sugar rolled into balls and then dipped in chocolate. Positively decadent. And delicious.

back before she developed diabetes @ the age of 77, my Mom made these every Christmas...I MISS them...maybe I should make them now that she can't. Thanks for the memory

Yum. We had them at school lunches. I remember trying to barter for more.
"I'll trade you one yeast roll for your buckeye."
It didn't work.

Is that what they are called? We just call them peanut butter balls. But oh, they are soooo good! And I can´t resist them either. That´s why I don´t make them! :)

MMM..We haven't made these for Christmas in years. I think I'll have to put them on the "Christmas Cookie 2009 List".

Thanks!!

I think you should post the recipe.

I haven't made these for a long time. I may make some this year!

THOSE look scrumptious! :)

Yeah, those things are DANGEROUS!!! I have to make them every year for one of my sons and the rest of us end up eating them! He, of course, is very thin and in shape... just not fair!

Well... since I'm originally from Ohio, your blog title in my reader sucked me right into reading immediately. (((Sigh...))) and I thought you were going to give props to all us great buckeyes. LOL

(I can't resist them either.)

Your beloved no-bake cookies think buckeyes are also called Bambis.

I think it is unanimous - We need the recipe.

Oh. my. stars. Those look absolutely delicious! Reeses' Peanut Butter Cups in a bite-size nugget. Texans obviously are missing out. I've never heard of anyone here making Buckeyes. Off to search the 'net for a recipe!

We'll have to meet secretly so you can pass me some... 2 kids with nut allergies = no buckeyes in the house! :(

Ah the good ol' days when I could eat an entire batch of buckeyes in one day and not even gain an ounce. Now just looking at the picture you have posted has caused me to gain 5lbs. :-P

Hmmm...peanut butter and chocolate huh? Sounds like my fudge puddles! They are so good...I just ate two...and I have a sugar allergy... that's how good they are! Don't you dare post the recipe for your buckeyes...cos then I'll have to make them. That's just the way it is.

They look heavenly...and guess what -- I was just trolling E-Bay and saw a VINTAGE 1982 Hall & Oates "Private Eyes" concert tour t-shirt.

Seriously Lid, you gotta get this shirt...

Okay, so I can totally understand how you could gain 7 pounds on those luscious looking buckeyes...and thank you for posting a picture because this California girl could not imagine what you were talking about at first. Out here we cover the peanut butter completely in chocolate and call them bon bons...because you know we are oh so sophisticated! HA!
Now I gotta go make some...my mouth is watering...eek....I feel another five pounds coming my way!
