Hair's the Thing:

No, I'm not showing the real picture. I'm showing the cover-up.

But here's the story:

My daughter is getting married in June. I'm starting the hair maintenance on all three of the hairs on my head now.

I went for a trim yesterday. I left with a radical, random cut just outside my left eye that is the very same length as the bangs in front. I did not request this.

There are bigger problems to stew about in life; this is true.

But I am still trying to wrap my head around this, no pun intended.

What was she thinking? Parakeets have eyes on the sides of their heads; perhaps they need bangs on the sides of their heads. Last time I checked my three hairs, they were not feathers but indeed hair. And my eyes are on the front of my head.

Evidence: Parakeet, eyes on sides of head:

Me: Eyes on front of head.

So now I'm swooping the two hairs on the right side of my head over to the left in an attempt to cover up the carnage, which wants to curl up like the section of hair in this pic:

Picture the rest of the hair behind that swoop shoulder length. It's just so RANDOM.

OK, rant over. For now.

Tweet, tweet.

So the question I have is, "Are you going to go back to that stylist?" I don't know if I could do it.

YOU'LL be even more beautiful..
and hairy!
true story..
the rehearsal dinner was delicious..
I awoke the morning of the wedding all swollen..
could barely see!
my eyes were mere slits!
I had a reaction to the food!!!
my hair looked wonderful..
it was my face which I could do NOTHING about..
except stay out of the photographs!

You know, she has cut my hair before once, and she did a fine job. And she is sweet as can be, of course. Something just went very, very wrong this time. Don't know what I'll do when I need a trim again in, oh, 3 or so years.

First of all, I'm sure that it not as bad as what you think. Hair issues tend to become magnified in our own mind's eye.

That said, I am very relieved that I did not read about a coloring mishap. Such a thing once occurred to me (self-inflicted), and the results truly were mortifying.

I do hope that you called the person who cut your hair and requested the person to fix it. That is what I've done before. A customer's satisfaction should be foremost on that person's mind.

It willgrow out, you have plenty of time. I had my hair cut back in June - "Just a trim and layer it please. Take only 1/2 inch off" she asked me toake off my glasses (Never Again) and she began to cut. I notieced the pile of hair on the floor and was worried but once the cut is going how do you stop it? Anyhow, I put my glasses back on and I gasped! It was a boys cut!!! She tole me I was so young that I could take a young cut. Well I loved the Young part but I haven't needed a hair cut since and it NOVEMBER!!
See, we all have those days.

I love the idea of swooping...but my hair apparently disagrees.

I'm so sorry Linda...I'd be ranting too! Glad you've got time for it all to grow out before the wedding!!

And when people say, "It's not THAT bad," what they really mean is "It's bad."
I have had to do my share of camoflauging, too, though mostly with color disasters.
Yes...I color my own hair.
I also had a mishap with wax and least they weren't MY eyebrows.

Can't quite picture it, but your cover-up looks good!

Oh my word, Linda... I feel for you. I am SO neurotic about my hair it isn't funny so I feel your pain.

My stylist did something similar once and it was a nightmare to get those little wispies from trying to curl under during the day.

So glad you have lots of months to grow it out again, but I love the swoop anyway. One of my students has one side way longer than the other & it is awesome!

Just gotta say too....your cheekbones....I want them!! Gorgeous!

I actually think it looks good! But I never say the word "cut" to a hair stylist!! I usually say "snip" the ends only!! That seems to prevent the scalping of the head in my case!!

Hair issues can make or break us. I hate it, but there it is.

I don't know what you're talking about. You look smokin' hot and super trendy to me.

You're doing a great job with the cover-up!
ps: you still have your length! I thought initially you meant she had cut ALL your hair to the length of your bangs!
