Report on Back to Work and Burger, Burger, Who's Got the Burger?

First of all, I made it through my first day back to work. Luckily, it was a slow day, and luckily, I was able to wear my cute polka dot shoes, which kind of softened the blow for me, ya know? It was like wearing your back-to-school clothes on the first day of the new school year, only these weren't new. They're just my happy shoes. If you don't own a pair of "happy shoes," you should get some. When you wear them, every time you see them walking you around, they say to you, "We're cute. This is a happy day. God is good. Your boss is nice. Be happy like me!" and then you say, "OK!" And pretty soon, it's snack time!

Speaking of eating ...

It has literally been months since I've had McDonald's "food," but last night, we subjected ourselves to it.

Look closely at this first picture, which is my cheeseburger. Notice anything missing?

Meat. Meat is missing from my cheeseburger. I don't know how to say "cheeseburger" without using the word "burger," but that's what I had: a "cheese-nonburger."

Note this second picture. This my husband's selection, a cheeseburger, which ironically, has TWO burgers on it, and no, he did not order a double cheeseburger. But he got a "cheeseburger-burger."

Looks like Mickey D's had the "A" Team playing last night.

PS: A young man we're close to just returned from East Asia. He told us that at the McDonald's there, the employees were very particular about the presentation of the meal. The food looked like McDonald's food on commercials, not like the one served up to us last night by Kevin the Sk8ter Dude who can't see through his long bangs.

On the plus side, McDonald's does not have commercials wherein chidren kick their parents. I'll take the cheese non-burger over bad ads.

We also had to subject ourselves to McD's yesterday. We had a similar experience:

1st - Not getting the salad I ordered at the drive thru
2nd - When I asked for the salad, they asked to see my receipt (like I'm making this up or something
3rd - Gave me the salad with no dressing, no utensils
4th - Not getting the 6 sweet & sour sauces for the nuggets

I guess they were a little off yesterday.

But, I must confess, I have an addiction to their french fries ... only the best.

I love your happy shoes.

The last time I bought food from McDonald's, I took 1 bite and threw it out the car window over the railing into a bayou in LA on I10 as we were driving back to TX from FL.

I don't frequent Mickey D's any more. They are just not what they used to be. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you try Friday fill-ins. I will come back to see you soon. Blessings, Carol

I don't live in Texas anymore (sniff), but if you ever visit Texas, you MUST have a Whataburger. I promise, as far as fast "food" goes, you will never be able to subject yourself to McD's again!

OH how I long for Whataburger to come to GEORGIA! I miss you, Whataburger with cheese. (slurp)

And talk about the best fries on the PLANET...

It never fails. If you go through the Drive-Thru and check your order while you are still there, it is fine. If you don't check it before you leave, you can be sure something is messed up.
"Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger"
Doesn't this make anyone think of John Belushi? Or am I just showing my age---and intellect.

"I'm lovin' it!" - - your blog, not McDonalds. I like the Grilled Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich. Mmmm. And their salads are good too. And of course - what 4 yr old doesn't love receiving a FREE POLLY POCKET with their lunch.

I'm be more excited to go if I got a free pair of happy shoes or something. Why do only the kids get the fun stuff?

That's hysterical about the double cheeseburger ...and NON burger!
Our girls always beg us to go to McD but when we do, it's definitely as a favor to them- not their parents' favorite place! (But of course, when I was their age, I got excited about it too...)

Yep, those shoes are indeed happy! I would love to have some like those! :)

i love their ff's, too!

so, I have to be nosey and ask if hubber share the "extra" burger with wifey?

When our first McD's opened in the 60's I remember how BIG the BIG MACs were...you had a hard time getting your hands around them. Now they're taller and smaller. That's also back when a BK Whopper was REALLY a whopper of a burger, they're a lot smaller now, too!

We used to skip the burgers anyway, and get a choc shake and ff's...yum!

Ok, Lidna.....I hate that you had to eat a cheese non-burger...and that the husband had to eat a cheeseburger-burger. But...I love the happy shoes! And I have to know where that picture was taken because the table you have your happy feet on looks exactly like the tables in my living room! OH...and I very much dislike that "BK" commercial as well!

Very cute shoes and I agree if you have to go back to work, might as well be in cute shoes.

No burger? Did you want to say, "Where's the beef?" - that's a Wendy's commercial isn't it.

So basically you had a condiment sandwich...
I am running out right NOW to get me some happy shoes! How can you not smile when you put those kicks on?

I know just what you mean about the happy shoes!

1. I have a darling pair of black polka dot sandals I got at Meijer that I loved SO MUCH, I went back and bought another pair, left them in the box and put them away in my closet so I would have them when the others wore out.

2. McDonald's is just not what it used to be. Many, many moons ago, I used to do birthday parties there and they actually had to THROW away food that had been made for a certain number of minutes. Needless to say, they don't do that anymore. They just sell it. No matter how old it is.

Your first paragraph & clever title? Writing genius. You continue to amuse and amaze. :)

Sadly, I do not own a pair of happy shoes. Clearly, I need to get me some to buffer me and make my mouth to smile until snack time finally arrives.

And yeah, McD's, not bringin' the heat. Looks like they got caught half-steppin'.

First, those polka dot shoes were adorable..they will match your future black/white theme of your kitchen. Hehehe

Second, that was SO funny about the burger. How come this doesn't surprise me?? It is like the Murphy's Law of cheesenonburgers. If memory serves me right, you like the cheese that falls on the paper right??

Enquiring minds want to know, did your hubby give you his extra burger??

Marina said...

Jodi is right you did say you like the cheese that falls on the paper :)

Love your shoes everyone needs a pair of happy shoes. I am glad all went well your first day, marina

Oh those shoes are so cute. My happy shoes are the same style but white with flowers and bugs on them. Not cartoon looking bugs, realistic ones. I love them ... they make me happy :-)

Those are GREAT happy shoes!

I. Do. Not. Like. McDonalds.

Even though their ads are substantially better. My family has spurned both Mickey D's and the King in favor of a redhead with two ponytails- Wendy's!!

No bad ads, and I've never been served a non-burger. :)

Kim said...

I've never had those "kind" of cheeseburgers from McD's...yet.

Oh...LOVE the shoes! So cute.

Love bloggers who will leave 20+ comments on a McD's post. :)

Lurve the happy shoes! I just got a pair on holidays, too. Pink and green plaid! I'll have to wear them tomorrow as I go back to work tomorrow.

Truly a diet burger if I ever saw one! The only thing we go to McD's for is the ice cream cones.

Love the Happy Shoes, so cute!

Love your writing too. You can take any situation and turn it into something to laugh about. Who doesn't Love to laugh!? "A cheerful heart is good medicine."

Just another thought... Only a true blogger would stop a meal to go get a camera to take pictures of half eaten burgers (and non-burgers) for the purpose of gathering information to post on the blogosphere. Ha! Even funnier is that other comply with this behavior. :D

Oh, Linda, your McDonald's story cracked me up and I just have to share this one...

Many years ago when I was pregnant with my first baby, I was at the local Taco Bell with one of my good friends and it was obvious that all the employees were a bit lost and didn't really know what they were doing. People kept bringing their orders back to the counter to have them fixed. My friend leaned over to me and I'll never forget what she whispered to me: "You know, I think it's nice that they hire the handicapped, but do they have to put them all on the same shift?" I laughed so hard that it was very hard not to wet my big ol' pregnant self right there in line at the Taco Bell.
