Where I'm Going Today

I'm off with eight of my gal pals to the Ikea in Cincinnati! Woo to the Hoo! I wish you were coming along. We could all hang out together because I know you would like them and they would like you, and we would get Starbucks and eat at some place called Izzys that my friend says has the best potato pancakes in the world. She almost passed out talking about them.

Potato pancakes? [She says they're unbelievable, and when I Googled "Izzy's" + "potato pancakes," there it was in black and white, right there on the Internet, so it has to be accurate, right? Not that I didn't take her word for it.] Apparently, you order a dill pickle and a potato pancake, and then you die and go straight to heaven.

In the meantime, you can play this Ikea game and see if you know your "stuff," or "schluffersnaggen," as they say in Sweden. And Cincinnati, I think.

I'll miss ya!

Oh, and by the way?

Only 10 days until:

How to upload your own videos!

We have an IKEA store by us that opened about a year ago. They have some of the cutest ideas. I've never heard of Izzy's, but if you're going to IKEA, stop and get the meatballs!

Cincinnati is only about 1 1/2 hours from me and I keep thinking I MUST see that Ikea of which everyone speaks!! Maybe during my Christmas break from school...

Also? I make potato pancakes all the time when I have leftover mashed potatos. If you love them, just whip some up! I just add an egg, a little cheese, salt and pepper until they are about the right consistency, then fix them just like regular pancakes. Let me know how you like them!

I had never even heard of IKEA until a few months ago when a friend went and now I can't wait to go! Take us with you in your mind today!!

Soooo, I figured out how to use my video player on my new macbook so I will wait until I have a good hair day and then I will make my video! YAY! (Of course, I was a teenager in the 80's so good hair is relative!)

Now I just need to figure out how to do some fun stuff with picutres! AND what else this thing does besides house my online friends.

If I weren't so busy today I would run on over to the Canton MI IKEA...then at least I would be IKEAing in spirit! But alas, I have soccer games to go to, 'cause you know me, I'm just a soccer mom!

Have FUN! Eat a potato pancake for me! YUM!

Potato pancakes are a great source of carbs, which you will surely need to spend a day in IKEA. It can be so overwhelming, no?

I've finally gotten my IKEA mojo, but the first time I went, I spent six hours roaming the store, wide-eyed, and I left with a set of spatulas and a picture frame. It was too much for me to process.

We don't have an IKEA anywhere near us. In fact, maybe not in the state of Iowa? Have fun and post what you get!

I never met a potato pancake I didn't like.

Don't remind me about the video. I'm starting to freak out a little, thinking I don't have anything to say. I'm really going to have to think about this.

Can you believe that I have an IKEA less than a half an hour from our home and I've never been there. It has been open for at least 2 years and yet I can't seem to get myself down there. Maybe your post will inspire me to get my but in gear.

I like IKEA though my family groans when I want to go there when we go to the big city. It is mega-huge. They all make for the cafeteria while I wander around. They love the salmon (which costs next to nothing there) and the swedish meatballs. Going with girlfriends is probably the best thing to do!

I *heart* IKEA!!! In fact, it was the last store I went to before leaving the U.S. Our family enjoyed a last day together visiting a botanical garden and shopping at IKEA. *sigh* Such good memories.

I'm hoping IKEA makes it to South America soon! I could so furnish my house with their stuff.

For moms with young children, it is a GREAT place because they have a secure play area where you can park your kids for an hour while you wander the aisles. The many, many, many aisles.

And Linda, please eat a potato pancake for me. Yum!

Oh that sounds like big fun! I've always wanted to shop at a "real" IKEA store -- all I have access to is their online store. And as far as Izzy's goes -- I'M JEALOUS! When I worked in Columbus, OH there was an Izzy's downtown and it was always great. It was always packed and LOUD -- had a New York City feel to it. Have FUN!

GIRL!! I am going there on Monday with friends! :) I haven't been to the Cincy one yet; is it as big as Chicago and DC area and all the others? I can't wait. Might have to try the potato pancakes. I've had the swedish meatballs. ;) What did you buy???

Last weekend I SO BEGGED my brother and DS 1 to stop when we passed the Ikea in Cincy! See I was only a week early. I could have joined the "girls" there today. I love that place.

Hugs,

Susan

Ikea is an experience. I loved it the first time but then I had to go exchange something and I was certain I was a rat in a maze. I couldn't get to Point B to save my neck, then I had to go back to Point B after I got to the register because they wrote down the wrong order. It was wild. I didn't eat there, though. Next time, I'll plan for a day of it! Hope you had a blast. Love, Annette
